Intro to Yoga for Pelvic Floor
with Kerry Doyle

October 4 (Saturday)
at 10:00 am

Class length
150 minutes

Location

Join Iyengar Yoga Instructor, Kerry Doyle for this workshop to learn more about the pelvic floor and an introduction about how to practice yoga to restore and tone these important muscles.

The muscles of the pelvic floor form a gentle support for reproductive and excretory organs, and serve as a junction between the legs and the spine. Pelvic floor muscles can be overly loose or even too tight. The stress of childbirth, changes that occur with menopause, and health or sexual history have an effect on these important, yet little known muscles and their ligaments.

Pelvic floor imbalances can manifest as back, hip or sacroiliac issues, painful intercourse, incontinence and digestive complaints. Because the pelvis is an area associated with intimacy, it can also be a region where many people hold emotions. A toned and balanced pelvic floor nurtures hormonal wellness, allows for healthy function of reproductive and excretory organs, and provides postural support.

In this workshop you will:

• Learn basic anatomy of the pelvic floor
• Gain understanding about influence of pelvic floor on physical/physiological functions
• Experience breath exercise to access and relax these deep muscles
• Practice basic yoga poses to help balance and tone the pelvic floor

Includes handouts.

Cost: $55 (Early Rate thru 9/28), $60 thereafter
